Yesterday, DJI released a new teaser called “Refelections” and they are using this teaser to gain attention for their next event on Oct 11, 2017. The event will be held in (and broadcasted from) Los Angeles and according to DJI we will be able to “meet the next stage in cinematic vision.”
The teaser (that you can see below) is shot in 4K video and it features both handheld and aerial shots.
Usually when DJI releases a teaser it means that they have another product launch coming up. And because of that, speculations are running wild. People are guessing anything from “Spark 2” to “Hasselblad & RED platform”.
Because the teasers shows more than just aerial shots we suspect that DJI plans to release a new camera in LA next week.
And although we’re not ruling out a newer or improved aerial platform (Matrice) as a DJI partner is rumored to have said “a RED on a big gimbal might not be an issue in the future”, we thimk that DJI will use the event to announce a new Zenmuse camera (X7) for the Inspire. After all, it’s been a while since the last improvement to that camera system. Not only that, the X7 was registered with the FCC last month.
Either way, the fact that DJI has chosen Los Angeles as the location for this event indicated that this is not a product that’s aimed at consumers but rather a product that they think will appeal to professionals/prosumers.
Using LA to release a new Zenmuse camera is a shout out to the aspiring film maker: “Look! Now you too can make blockbuster grade movies with nothing but an Inspire and an Osmo. Just like everybody does in LA!”.
At the same time it would make sense to use LA introduce a new/improved aerial platform that aims at professional film makers.
